Whalers Village is a Shopping Mall located in Lahaina, Maui. This was one of my projects I worked on as a Web Production Assistant at Firefly Interactive, which was the interactive/online side of MVNP.
As creative as this website was designed, one of the challenges I had to deal with was that I wasn't included in the initial design process. I was given this project and was told that I need to create templates and there was no room for design changes since the client already approved it. The layout was quite difficult being that it had jagged edges and it needed to repeat nicely no matter how much content the client wanted to add it. Luckily, I found a way to make it work. I was in charge of the front-end development for this project and created the master templates then handed it off to the senior programmer to make it work with his CMS. Since its launch, I am the one who maintains updates template changes to this website, especially the Maui Onion Festival that happens each year.
